Mock n' Droll
The Vowel Movements Baseball Cap
Originally known as the Velveteen Underground, this proto-punk band burst on the London scene in the mid-1970s. While opening for Anti-Pasti at the Roxy the band caught the ear of BBC disc jockey Axl Peeling who promptly signed them. Their record release party and open bar at the Vortex in July 1977 is the subject of the documentary White Flight/White Meat. Lead singer Oranjeboom St. Claire continues to perform today as a backup singer with French punk band Métal Frümage.
